10 minute miles

I don't run.  I have no desire to run.  But sometimes a running analogy just works.  Yesterday, while I was travelling to the suburbs, I got stuck in traffic.  I saw the sign for "expect long delays" but didn't really believe them.  Until I got stuck in it.  For an hour.  I was driving about a 10 minute mile.  And that might be generous.  It might have been more like an 11 or 12 minute mile.  And then once I got through it, I got stuck in traffic getting onto 355.  And then the "shortcut" I learned to get to Mom's house was blocked off and I had to turn back around.  Sigh.  It was a long trip.  But I made it.  In time for dinner :).
